10 minute yoga – practicing with a crawling baby
So… it seems gone are the days where I can practice 10 minute yoga with a sleeping newborn in the carrier. Now my 6 month old Rory is into everything my options for yoga are:
a) Wait until he is asleep to practice. (He currently naps for a grand total of 20 minutes so I usually barely make it the mat before he wakes).
b) Set him up with some toys whilst I practice (which usually results in him ignoring ALL toys and getting into dirt, his brothers toys or eating other unidentified objects off the floor.)
c) Include him in my practice. (Lifting almost 8kg of baby actually makes me work harder in all of the poses, though it does mean I need to be more mindful of my back).
So if you’re in the same boat, and are missing your regular 10 minute yoga practices; here’s a simple sequence you can do if you have a crawler on the ground.
I’d love to know what you think. Feel free to leave me a comment or shoot me an email if you give it a go. And if you haven’t already, you might like to download my free yoga with kids ebook.
